Mattress Disposal & Recycling in San Diego County
Same-day mattress and box spring pickup, taken to a California-certified recycler rather than a landfill.
The Junkiez provides same-day mattress disposal & recycling in San Diego County. Same-day mattress and box spring pickup, taken to a California-certified recycler rather than a landfill.
Getting rid of a mattress in Southern California is deliberately hard. You cannot put it in a bin, most landfills will not accept it loose, and city bulky-item pickup often means waiting two to three weeks with the thing sitting in your driveway. We pick it up the same day, carry it down whatever stairs are involved, and deliver it to a recycler under the state programme.
Mattresses in San Diego County
San Diego County runs from the coast to genuine backcountry, and the work changes completely across that distance. Coastal neighbourhoods are tight-lot, rental-heavy and parking-constrained. The older urban core has 1920s bungalows with basements and canyon lots with long carries. Inland — Poway, Escondido, El Cajon, Santee — it is half-acre lots, outbuildings and yards that generate green waste at volumes the coast never sees. Camp Pendleton and the Navy add a constant PCS-driven move-out cycle on top.
We are used to military move-out deadlines and can work backwards from a hard report date. Canyon-adjacent properties across the county mean long carries we plan crew around. Miramar, Otay and Sycamore landfills serve the city, South Bay and East County respectively, and green waste is kept as a separate composting load under California organics rules. The inland and backcountry fringes have enforced CAL FIRE defensible-space requirements.

Why you cannot just throw it away
California banned mattresses from most landfill disposal streams and created the Mattress Recycling Council programme, funded by a recycling fee collected at the point of sale. Roughly 75% of a mattress by weight — steel springs, polyurethane foam, cotton fibre and timber — is genuinely recoverable. Dumping one illegally in LA County carries fines that start in the hundreds and climb fast.
