Recycling & Donation
Donation-first disposal with itemised charity receipts, plus proper recycling streams for e-waste, mattresses, metal and green waste.
Reusable items go to charity partners including Goodwill Southern California, Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and you get an itemised donation receipt. Mattresses, e-waste, appliances, metal and green waste each go to their own recycling stream rather than landfill.
Where each category goes
- Furniture and household goods in good condition — donated to charity partners, with an itemised receipt emailed to you.
- Mattresses — recyclers participating in the California Mattress Recycling Council programme, where steel, foam and fibre are reclaimed.
- Electronics — California-approved e-waste facilities, as required for material classified as universal hazardous waste.
- Appliances with sealed systems — recyclers performing certified refrigerant recovery, as the EPA requires.
- Metal — scrap processors.
- Green waste — composting and organics facilities, kept as a separate load under California SB 1383.
- Construction debris — certified C&D processors that issue the diversion documentation permits require.
Being honest about the numbers
Plenty of companies in this industry advertise a diversion percentage. We would rather describe the process than quote a figure we cannot independently verify on every load. What we can tell you is what happens to your specific job, and we will provide the receipts and weight tickets to back it up when you ask.
What cannot be donated
Charities decline torn or heavily stained upholstery, anything with pest exposure, cribs and car seats below current safety standards, and recalled products — mostly for health and liability reasons rather than fussiness. Those items get broken down for material recycling instead.
