Appliance Removal
Refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves and water heaters removed and routed to certified appliance recyclers.
The Junkiez provides same-day appliance removal across Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. Refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves and water heaters removed and routed to certified appliance recyclers.
Appliances are heavy, awkward and legally fiddly. A full-size refrigerator runs 250–350 pounds, water heaters hold water you do not want on your floor, and anything with a compressor contains refrigerant that is illegal to vent to atmosphere. We handle the lift, the doorway, and the paperwork side of getting it recycled properly.
What we take
- Refrigerators, freezers and wine coolers
- Washing machines and clothes dryers
- Stoves, ovens, ranges and cooktops
- Dishwashers and garbage disposals
- Water heaters — tank and tankless
- Air conditioners, window units and mini-splits
- Microwaves, trash compactors and range hoods
- Commercial kitchen equipment
Refrigerant is the regulated part
Fridges, freezers and air conditioners contain refrigerant that the EPA requires be recovered by a certified technician before the unit is scrapped. We do not vent it and we do not hand units to scrappers who will. Everything with a sealed system goes to a recycler that does certified refrigerant recovery, which is also why we will not simply leave your old fridge at the kerb.
Disconnection — what we can and cannot do
We will unhook a standard plug-in appliance and disconnect a washer’s water lines. We are not licensed plumbers or electricians, so hard-plumbed gas lines, hardwired circuits and soldered water-heater connections need to be capped by a licensed trade before we arrive. Say the word when booking and we will tell you exactly which category yours falls into.
Rebates worth checking first
Before you pay anyone to haul a working fridge or freezer, check whether your utility will collect it free and pay you for it. SoCal Edison, LADWP and SDG&E have all run appliance recycling rebates paying $35–$75 for a working second fridge. If yours qualifies, use that — we would rather tell you than take your money for a job the utility will pay you to do.
