Piano Removal
Upright and grand pianos removed safely by crews with the right dollies, boards and manpower.
The Junkiez provides same-day piano removal across Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. Upright and grand pianos removed safely by crews with the right dollies, boards and manpower.
Pianos are the job most haulers quietly decline. An upright runs 300–800 pounds with the weight distributed high and back, a baby grand is 500–700, and a concert grand can exceed 1,300. They damage floors, doorframes, backs and occasionally people. We do them, with the right equipment and enough crew, and we would rather send four people than have three struggle.
What we take
- Upright, spinet, console and studio pianos
- Baby grand and grand pianos
- Player pianos and reproducing pianos
- Organs, electric pianos and keyboards
- Piano benches, stools and accessories
Why access decides the price
The piano itself is rarely the hard part; the route is. Stairs, tight landings, a turn at the bottom of a staircase, gravel between the door and the truck — each of those adds crew and time. Send a photo of the piano and a photo of the path to the street when you ask for a quote, and the number we give you will be the number you pay.
If it might be worth something
Before disposal, consider whether the instrument has value. Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Bösendorfer and Yamaha grands in playable condition are worth real money even needing work. So are some older uprights with intact soundboards. A technician’s assessment costs far less than what a sellable instrument is worth, and we would rather you got paid for it. If it is a 1920s upright with a cracked plate — which describes most of them — donation and disposal are the realistic options.
Grands come apart
Grand pianos are removed by taking the legs and lyre off and standing the instrument on its side on a purpose-built piano board, then strapping it. That is standard practice, not improvisation, and it is how they get through doorways that are narrower than the piano.
