# Frequently Asked Questions URL: https://thejunkiez.com/faq/ Summary: Answers on pricing, scheduling, what we take, and how we handle donations, documentation and difficult jobs. Contact: 323-547-5879 — info@thejunkiez.com Last updated: 2026-08-28 The short version: free on-site quotes with the price confirmed before we load, same-day service in most cases, no charge for stairs or carries, and we take everything except household hazardous waste. ## Frequently asked questions **Can you come today?** Usually, yes. Most jobs booked before early afternoon are completed the same day. Call or text 323-547-5879 and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it today rather than booking you in and disappointing you later. **Do I need to be there?** Not necessarily. Plenty of jobs — storage units, rental turnovers, out-of-state property owners — are done with authorisation and access details alone. We send before-and-after photos and written confirmation when we are finished. **Do I need to move anything to the kerb?** No. We carry from wherever it sits — upstairs bedroom, back yard, side alley, third-floor walk-up. There is no charge for stairs or distance. **How long does a job take?** A single item takes fifteen to thirty minutes. A garage cleanout is typically ninety minutes to three hours. A full house is a day, sometimes two. We give you a realistic window when we quote rather than an optimistic one. **What areas do you serve?** Los Angeles County, Orange County and San Diego County, covering everywhere from Santa Clarita down to San Clemente and across to Poway and El Cajon. **Are you licensed and insured?** Yes. We are fully licensed and insured, and we can issue a certificate of insurance naming a building owner, HOA or property manager as additional insured — which most commercial buildings require before releasing a loading dock. **What will you not take?** Paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, pool chemicals, propane tanks, car batteries, asbestos, medical waste and ammunition. That is genuinely the entire list — these are hazardous waste categories that cannot legally travel in a standard truck. Everything else is fair game. **Where do I take hazardous waste?** All three counties we serve run free household hazardous waste drop-off centres for residents. LA County has permanent SAFE centres and mobile collection events, Orange County runs four permanent centres, and San Diego County has drop-off facilities plus scheduled events. We will tell you the nearest one when we quote. **Do you take appliances and electronics?** Yes. Appliances with sealed refrigerant systems go to certified recyclers that recover refrigerant properly, and electronics go to California-approved e-waste facilities. Both are legally required and both are things we handle as standard. **What happens to my stuff after you take it?** Anything reusable goes to donation first — we work with Goodwill Southern California, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore and local shelters. Metal, e-waste, mattresses, green waste and construction debris each go to their own recycling or processing stream. Only what genuinely cannot be reused or recycled goes to landfill. **Can you take a whole house of furniture?** Yes. Full-house clear-outs are routine — they are typically multi-truck jobs quoted after a walk-through, which can be done in person or by video call. **Will you donate rather than dump?** Yes, that is our default. Anything clean, structurally sound and free of pest exposure goes to a partner charity, and we can email you an itemised donation receipt for your records. **Can you come in an unmarked truck?** Yes, on request and at no extra charge. We are asked for this regularly on hoarding jobs, estate clear-outs and occupied real estate listings, and there is nothing unusual about it. **Do you provide documentation for insurance or tax purposes?** Yes. Donation receipts from receiving charities, before-and-after photo sets, itemised removal lists, certificates of insurance, C&D diversion weight tickets and certificates of data destruction are all available. Ask when booking. **What if something is valuable?** It is set aside for you, every time. Our crews are trained to flag anything that looks personal, documentary or valuable rather than assume it is trash — we have found cash, jewellery and bonds in furniture more than once.
